RENEW Wagga EOI’s now open

A callout is open right now for people with unique, creative business ideas to transform vacant CBD shopfronts.

Eastern Riverina Arts has opened a new round of EOI’s for its Renew Wagga program, which supports artists and creative entrepreneurs to establish businesses to breathe new life into the Wagga CBD.

RENEW Wagga is the creative business project breathing new life into Wagga Wagga by facilitating short term usage of empty shop spaces by artists and creative entrepreneurs road testing their unique business idea.

Previous rounds of RENEW Wagga have seen businesses including the photography studio F.Stop Workshop, The Little Yellow House Gallery & Studio and fashion designer Middlemost.

Pitches for sustainable creative business in Wagga Wagga’s CBD are sought from:

  • Those who make or create their own wares or intellectual property (e.g. artworks, designs)

  • Not for profit, social enterprises or community groups generating creative wares or intellectual property

  • Out of the box ideas, with big energy. Ideas that compliment, and not compete with businesses already thriving in our CBD.

Interested people can find out more and submit an expression of interest before 29 July 2022.

RENEW WAGGA does more than pair artists with spaces. Throughout the program, the Eastern Riverina Arts team provides business advice and support to participants as they pilot their new business.

Claire Harris, Creative Business Officer for Eastern Riverina Arts is excited to see the next phase of RENEW WAGGA taking shape.

She said: "This program has seen new businesses established that are providing unique products and services and having an economic and social impact on the whole community.”

Eastern Riverina Arts Executive Director Tim Kurylowicz praised the project partners and supporters that have made this innovative program possible.

“Every participant in this program is doing something outside of the box. They’re having to figure out a business model that works and find their market, and we want to see them succeeding long after the program has finished.

“We’ve worked closely with Council and support organisations like the Business Chamber and Riverina Murray Business to give our participants every chance of succeeding.

“We really have to thank the owners of the vacant buildings who have trusted us to support new emerging entrepreneurs. Through their support, the CBD is getting more activity and our community gets to benefit from these vibrant, local businesses.”
