We are looking forward to a big year of championing our local creative community as you take on big leaps in your creative endeavours! If you're looking for your next step, there are plenty of opportunities in this email that are currently open.

Country Arts Support Program applications close Feb 5th!


Are you an artist looking to level up your creative practice in 2023? Are you a group, collective or company with a bold creative project in the works?

There are two streams available through the Eastern Riverina Arts Country Arts Support Program to support proposals for 2023:

  • For Individuals, max $750 – for professional development or the realisation/presentation of an ambitious artistic outcome, or

  • For Projects, max $3000 – for original creative projects and collaborations that meet the eligibility criteria.

Applications are open now.

Applications close: Sunday 5th February 2023, 11.59pm

Take your creative business or artistic practice from the kitchen table to the Wagga Wagga CBD!

Creative Office Suites
These secure, fully furnished creative office suites are available on month-to-month terms to support growing creative freelancers and companies. Switch on your laptop and start creating on day one!

Artist Studios
Three light-filled wet/dry artist studios to support the generation of art by practicing and aspiring professional artists. Each studio space has ample natural light, a hard floor and access to a wash-up room.

The Ella Foundation Scholarship

The Ella Foundation scholarship program provides tuition fees for First Nations youth to attend dance and creative movement lessons at selected schools across Australia.

Applications are currently open and will close on January 31st, 2023.

The Program supports First Nations youth aged 7-21 during 2023. The scholarship year lasts for one whole calendar year which the successful recipient will receive:

  1. A maximum of $1000 to go towards tuition fees

  2. A 30 min one-on-one session with a First Nations mentor

  3. Invitations to events, workshops and opportunities (subject to location and availability)

  4. Quarterly check in’s and support throughout the year

Shine a Light Photography Competition

The Forrest Centre Shine a Light photography competition invites you to turn your lens on the older people in your life and share what you see by taking and submitting photographs that celebrate older people and what it means to age well.

The competition is open to amateur and professional photographers alike. The only parameter is that submissions need to feature older people. There are some great prizes to be won, including

  1. Under 18s – $500

  2. Over 70s – $500

  3. Professional photographers – $500

  4. Open category – $500

  5. The Forrest Centre staff – $500

  6. People’s Choice – $1000

Entries close at 11:59pm AEDST on 31 January 2023.

Halfway Print Fest Stallholder Applications Open

Halfway Print Fest (HPF) is an annual festival that celebrates zine culture and the self-publishing/DIY spirit held in Wagga Wagga since 2018.

We believe in disruptive thinking, challenging the status quo and democratising art.

You don’t have to consider yourself an artist or necessarily identify as a zine-maker to make a zine and anyone can have a stall at HPF. It’s a safe space to explore your creativity and share your ideas with a supportive and curious community.

Falling Leaf Festival Workshops

Calling Creative and Cultural Producers - Falling Leaf Festival - 29 April 2023 - is seeking people who would like to run workshops during the morning of the Festival.

We can help you find a venue, will promote your workshop through our extensive professional marketing campaign and assist with bookings/ticketing. You must have your own public liability insurance.

Screen NSW Animation and VFX Trainee Placement Program

Screen NSW are offering skills development opportunities in the animation and visual effects industry.

The program will provide subsidies to leading NSW host companies to employ trainees in either a creative or technical field for paid, six-month placements. The placement intends to provide real working experience in film, television and interactive projects with host companies.

In 2023, Five NSW companies are involved in the program: Animal Logic, Black Bird, Cutting Edge, Fin and Plastic Wax.  There are up to 10 trainee placements available.

Belco Arts 'earth unframed' call for entries

Artists are being invited from throughout Australia to investigate their concept of ‘earth’; our home, the environment, soil, land, fragility, strength or purpose.

Embrace your imagination with a sense of play, political activism, boldness, experimentation, thoughtfulness, or contemplation.  

Artists working in any stage of their creative practice be it as a professional or hobbyist are welcome to submit work exploring this theme at A3 (29.7 x 42 cm) on paper and unframed. This includes drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and mixed media. Works MUST be on paper. All works will be eligible for consideration of the $500 People’s Choice Award.

Entries are due by midnight Friday 27 January 2023.

Cover Art Competition

The Mona Magazine Cover art competition is now open! Would you like your art to be the new face of Mona Magazine Issue 03? Mona are seeking female identifying artists based in, or hailing from country Australia to design their next cover. There is no theme - but they want to see art that shares WHO YOU ARE. It could tell a story about you, your history, your ancestry or share something of personal significance to you.

Submissions for Issue 03 are also open - non-fiction, short stories, personal essays, poetry, art and more. 

Submissions close 28th February. Mona pay all contributors a writer’s/artist’s fee.

Do you want to lodge a deadly Creative Koori Application through Create NSW but need some help to make your application a success?

Join the ARAA NSW team in our series of workshops that will share all the information you need to take your idea to funding application success ready!

The Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award is a biennial acquisitive award & exhibition celebrating the diversity and strength of Australia's textile artistry.

This nationally significant biennial award has been presented by Wangaratta Art Gallery since 2009 and will again showcase textile artistry and talent from across Australia. 

This award is committed to the advancement and growth of contemporary textiles.

“My Spontaneous Journey” by Lorraine Williams at Tivoli West Wyalong

West Wyalong photographer Lorraine Williams is the current exhibiting artist at Tivoli West Wyalong, showcasing a wide variety of subject such as birds, landscapes, action shots, rustic relics and buildings from the region.

Located in the historical Masonic Hall, The Tivoli is a community cinema situated in the heart of West Wyalong. Featuring the latest digital movie projection technology, the venue brings people together through art, film and a sense of belonging. The space is fitted out with performance, conference and art showcase capabilities, making it a diverse and valuable asset to the town. The name Tivoli is a nod to the original Tivoli Theatre that once stood proud in the 1920’s in West Wyalong.

Accountability Writing Group & Mona book review writing workshop at The Curious Rabbit

If you need help keeping the motivation going for your writing project, The Curious Rabbit is hosting an accountability writing group on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of the month from 1-3pm. Come along with your material to sit and work together.

On Saturday 18th February join Mona Magazine for a 2 hour workshop to learn the art of writing reviews.

Lauren will lead you through reflection, crafting a considered opinion, structuring your piece, choosing the perfect excerpts and finding an audience for your review. Lauren will also be available for feedback at the end of the workshop.

Book Launch and Author Talk Thomas Middlemost Exhibition Opening Bruno Leti

Join author Thomas Middlemost and artist Bruno Leti as they discuss their work. Thomas has put together an extraordinary tome highlighting the extraordinary breadth of Leti's career, revealing a prolific, ardent and thoughtful figure in Australian art. Thomas has also worked with Bruno to curate a thoughtful and significant exhibition of work designed just for The Curious Rabbit.
