ERA Executive Director Tim Kurylowicz on NSW Creative Communities Council
Eastern Riverina Arts is proud to announce that Executive Director Tim Kurylowicz has been selected as a part of the NSW Government's Creative Communities Council.
The Creative Communities Council is an advisory council formed to provide advice to Arts Minister John Graham and Create NSW around the implementation of Creative Communities - the NSW Government’s 10-year policy for arts, culture and creative industries.
“It's a huge privilege to have the opportunity to advise the NSW government in relation to the development of arts, culture and creative industries.” Tim Kurylowicz said. “In my role I'll be working particularly hard to ensure that opportunities and supports are available to regional and rural artists, institutions and communities across the state.”
The 11 inaugural members of the Creative Communities Council are:
Louise Herron, Sydney Opera House (Chair)
Anne Loxley, Arts and Cultural Exchange
Benjamin Lee, Blowfish Studios
Caroline Butler-Bowdon, State Library of NSW
Darren Dale, Blackfella Films
Elizabeth Mildwater, Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality & Sport
Erin Madeley, Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance
Julia Robinson, ARIA
Kerri Glasscock, Sydney Fringe (Deputy Chair)
Nicholas Pickard, APRA AMCOS and
Tim Kurylowicz, Eastern Riverina Arts
“It speaks volumes that Minister Graham has sought ongoing input from such strong advocates representing arts, music, film, live performance, collecting institutions and more to ensure that policies and programs are designed and implemented effectively.” Tim reflects.
“One of the things that excites me about the Creative Communities policy is that, for the first time, an arts policy has explicitly focussed on growing our creative industries, whether that be in music, film and tv or even the gaming sector. We have plenty of incredible talents living and working in the regions, and I'll be advocating strongly to ensure that government investments in this space reach beyond the larger cities.”
“The incredible work that councils and Regional Arts Development Organisations do in regional NSW, running art galleries, museums and cultural development projects also needs to be recognised and supported.”
“I've learned so much already through being in the company of such esteemed leaders from across the arts and culture sector. It's a great privilege to be able to advocate for the creative people who contribute so much to the vibrancy and livability of our regions.”
