Creative Commissions Funding
Eastern Riverina Arts is eager to support the generation of new creative work that contributes to the life and legacy of Station Creative Workspace. These one-off Creative Commissions Grants of $1500 are for individuals and groups to support and develop ambitious and original creative outputs at the Station.
The Creative Commissions are open to proposals across a broad range of artforms, including but not limited to visual artworks, performing arts, writing projects, video/film or performance artworks, site-specific installations or digital art.
Eastern Riverina Arts will assist successful applicants in undertaking their commission by providing advice and support throughout the duration of the project. We will also endeavour to provide free access to the Station’s creative office, workshop/event or studio spaces to assist in the development or presentation of the works.
We are working towards a public launch of the Station in Autumn 2025. The Creative Commissions works are intended to be programmed and presented at or around the time of that launch.
We will negotiate with commissioned creatives to find an exchange of value that is appropriate to the grant amount, using NAVA Rates as a basis for discussion.
Examples of the kinds of commission outcome we envisage include:
acquiring a visual artwork or body of work for temporary exhibition or ongoing public display
giving a public presentation/reading/performance of a new work (or developmental milestone of that work) that has been created through this commission
delivering an ambitious or original creative professional-development opportunity that will benefit Riverina creatives
presentation/installation of a new site-specific or time-based work at the Station
Grant amount:
$1500
Eligibility:
To be eligible for a Creative Commission, applicants must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
Applicants must be located in the Eastern Riverina Arts service region (within the LGA of one of our member Councils: Bland, Coolamon, Cootamundra-Gundagai, Junee, Lockhart, Snowy Valleys, Temora, Wagga Wagga)
We are accepting applications from both individuals and groups.
The application must be for a creative work or program that will be presented or delivered at Station Creative Workspace.
The proposed work must be completed in 2025.
There are a few things we won’t fund, these include:
Expenses which are already covered by an organisation's core/existing funding (eg. existing worker salaries), or that comprise the base running costs of an organisation (eg. paying for insurances, admin staff, office costs etc.)
Illegal activities, or activities that would contravene community expectations in relation to hate speech, defamation etc.
Assessment Criterion:
The intent of the Creative Commissions is to generate new creative work that contributes to the life and legacy of Station Creative Workspace. The commissions will highlight the breadth and quality of creative practice in the Eastern Riverina Region.
The independent assessment panel will consider the following when assessing each proposal:
Whether the proposal demonstrates creative leadership or artistic excellence
If the proposal will result in an original and ambitious creative output
If the outcome is of the appropriate scale and ambition to the commission value
Will the commissioned outcome contribute to the activation, appeal or impact of Station Creative Workspace.
