In our little everyday moments, we converse with our pets, catch words on a page, hear sounds, we run from things, to things. There are moments of wonder, beauty, urgency, fear, and understanding.
These little moments form our perception of the world and become engraved in our memory, where anything can happen! In our memories, there are no boundaries - time is elastic, places fuse and images merge as we try to make sense of our experiences.
Exhibition Dates: 5th April-25th May
Opening Hours:
Saturdays: 10am-4pm
Sundays: 10am-2pm
About the Artist
Lucy Buttenshaw is a painter based in West Wyalong, NSW, 50 km from the lakeside property where she was raised. Her rural upbringing of isolation, open spaces and creature companions, has played a significant role in forming her perspective of the world. The lake, openness, trees, birds and animals, and the changing of seasons are now fused with her experience of the wider world.
Although the narrative implied in much of her work may be actual or invented, it always features imagery and icons plucked directly from her life.
In addition to her studio practice, Lucy teaches Art, English and piano, (B.A. (Fine Arts & English), Dip. Ed. (Art)), is involved in community art projects, gives painting workshops and for years was a National Art School, Sydney, tutor for the ART-LAB and HSC Extension Courses.
