A leading Australian screenwriter and a bunch of local up-and-coming writers are getting together over a four-day intensive. The aim: to produce local stories that might one day turn into movies set in the Riverina.

Over two weekends, screenwriter and editor Peter Neale is focusing not only on the writing process, but also on the various pathways people take to get projects off the ground. Writers have the opportunity to have their work critiqued by professionals from within the film and TV industry, and spend one-on-one time developing their script with Peter.

“Peter Cox and I would have loved something like this when we were writing Backyard Ashes so it is great that is something that is now available to the community. Hope it generates another feature film for Wagga.” – Mark Grentell, director of Backyard Ashes

ScriptLab is presented by Eastern Riverina Arts, Wagga Wagga City Council and Booranga Writers Centre.
