“She didn’t just step out of her comfort zone, she sprinted. She said it was one of the best things she’s done in a long time”
Fresh | Dance | Films document a project that worked with young people in six towns to make original hip-hop dance videos in some of the most breathtaking landscapes of the Riverina.
The 25 minute film showcases choreographed hip-hop dances, as well as plenty of freestyling from its participating young people. It is the culmination of a two-year project coordinated by Eastern Riverina Arts in close collaboration with staff from Temora, Coolamon, Tumut, Tumbarumba, Urana and Lockhart Shire councils.
Local young people attended dance workshops with Centennial Tuvale and Jas, and were filmed by Batlow-based filmmaker John Riddell. Original music for the films is provided by Wagga’s The Fusionest.
“Before the workshops, the only time i would dance in front of people were the posters on my cupboard while I was cleaning my room. Now I’ve been dancing in class if someone’s ringtone is catchy.”
