“This light hearted work looks at the rewiring that takes place within a new mother’s brain. Every discussion be it politics or personal, is refocussed onto issues surrounding the baby’s day. Life is a platform and the boat is a symbol of adventure, bath time and mechanical toys”.

– Ralph Tikerpae

Ralph is a sculptor of many things. Constantly searching for the balance between subtractive and additive materials, Ralph is drawn to working with pre-loved metals.

His sculptures explore the actions of humanity from social events to domestic satire. They include a range theatrical elements or icons where symbols become players on a stage.

“I have always enjoyed the element of chance found within the construction of metal sculpture and believe in the resurfacing of past lives through an artist’s subconscious trance when creating art”.

Ralph’s portfolio includes works made up of a wide range of mediums on both a large and small scale, often challenging the levels of the subconscious.

“I hope that when people see my art they recognize something that they already subconsciously recognise. Something familiar, but something that has been forgotten”.

Ralph’s work, Bath Time Toot Toot will be featuring in the window of the Eastern Riverina Arts office throughout April.
