LATICIA GIBSON
When film producer, Laticia Gibson was asked to direct a television commercial in Lockhart she had no idea where it was on a map or where the shoot would lead her.
Now twelve months later the international journalist and filmmaker is officially calling Lockhart home.
Formerly a Today Tonight reporter, Ms Gibson moved to the United Kingdom when she was 25, where she reported for the BBC and ITN before returning in 2010 to open her own media company, Blue Clay Productions.
Having filmed several projects in the area, including a documentary called “Going the Distance’ , which was about city folk looking for love in the country, she decided to follow her own heart.
Originally from a beef cattle farm near Casino, northern New South Wales, Laticia has been encouraging local farmers to get creative – making films about farming life and agri-business.
Combining her skills as a journalist and her creative flair with a video camera, Laticia is set on showcasing the local wildlife, charismatic locals and the rich and diverse history of the Riverina.
She also works with various community groups to promote arts events, including the Spirit of the Land Festival, which was the first commercial she shot in the area – some might say it was the bait that caught the worm.
Inspired by her travels across the globe and her adventurous career as a television reporter, Laticia is also in the throws of writing a screenplay. Recently attending an AFTRS screenwriting course in Wagga Wagga through a sponsored place by Eastern Riverina Arts, she says her creation has been greatly inspired by her change of scenery.
